Conveyor Traffic Cop
Convenience Of Utilizing Conveyor Traffic Cop In Manufacturing Companies
|
Simple machines have evolved to form bigger and greater equipments. The mechanism of the pulley is now being used in carrying and transporting heavy packages. It has been very useful not only to ordinary people but more to bigger companies. One of the most utilized machines is the conveyor traffic cop. It is commonly seen in manufacturing and packaging companies such as factories. Conveyor belts are utilized to move the packages. These conveyor belts use two types of pulley with a loop material that moves around them. Two or more conveyor belts then move to a certain meeting place, which is the conveyor traffic cop. Conveyor traffic cop is a mechanism, either mechanical or electrical, that prevents the collision of items from two conveyor lines as they come together to a single line. It works with the two conveyors that control the flow of the items. The conveyors are set into two different spacing. One of the lines will have a free flowing pacing while the other one has a wider flow to fill in the spaces between the free flowing g the flow by allowing the correct spacing and sequence in moving vehicles. The traffic cop stops the vehicles when he sees that there is already piling of vehicles on one side and let the other lane move on the different direction to avoid further slow movements. This is the same concept exhibited by the conveyor traffic cop. The conveyor traffic cop is programmed to move in a certain pacing and turn over. There are different lanes coming from different areas which will later on meet at a certain point and the conveyor traffic cop will be the one to check that there is no accidents or congestion within the area. The conveyor traffic cop is found in different areas. One of which is in the manufacturing line in a company. During the process, the conveyor line is set to a definite spacing to handle each transaction stage. At the end of the lane, there is usually a meeting place for all finished products. This area is the place where the traffic cop is found. It coordinates the flow as it moves to another process. It utilizes a pair of arms that are linked mechanically to coordinate the merging of the conveyor lanes. These lanes are horizontally and laterally positioned. The arms are the ones responsible in releasing and holding back the products. These arms are interlocked with each other to prevent the releasing of the products at the same time. This is mechanically set and no sensing device or powered automation is associated with it. The traffic cop is essential equipment in any production area. It serves as the overall manager and regulator of an area. The effectiveness of the traffic cop is dependent on the program that is incorporated in it. If the program is efficient and well planned, it is sure that the process within the area will flow continuously. The conveyor traffic cop is an essential part of the conveyor belt design that is implemented in a workplace. It makes the workload of the employees less tasking and less complicated. It likewise ensures the flow of the production. Considerations When Selecting a Sortation System
By Larry Boroff
A sortation system (sorter) is an integrated material handling conveyor system that automatically diverts product to a conveyor or chute for delivery to other areas of the DC including put-away, consolidation, replenishment, picking, audit, and outbound shipments. A sorter usually is chosen when the required speed and accuracy of an operation are too great to compensate for with manual labor.
